This is a post to make people understand that DND or NDNC is effective in India if at all you have the guts to fight against the promotional caller.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been saying that there should be any promotional call on the Do Not Disturb (DND) or National Do Not Call (NDNC) numbers, but still the companies are selling the data to the private player are this is being mocked at.
Most of the people are worried when they receive a promotional call even when they are having DND service active on their numbers.
Even the courts have announced judgment that the subscribers who have opted for the DND service should not be disturbed but none is following the directives of the courts.
People are worried as to how they can finally stop getting the promotional calls. Most of the calls are from the service providers. Reliance Communication is one such service provide which is not following any regulations or directions of TRAI or courts. Every second day there is a promotional call from their franchisee.
According to the Telecom Unsolicited Commercial Communications Regulations {Telecom UCC Regulations, 2007 (4 of 2007)}, the service provider shall be liable to pay amount of Rs. 5,000 for the first non-compliance. On second and any subsequent non-compliance the amount might exceed to Rs. 20,000 for each non-complaince.
For the tele-marketer the tarrif to be levied from the registered tele-marketer to Rs. 500 for the first call and Rs. 1,000 for subsequent calls, TRAI has announced the directives.
Readers when you get a call on NDNC and DND service you are free to make a complaint and this can be done to the nodal officer of the service providers on the list of Nodal officers memtioned in the list mentioned under.
The TRAI list of Nodal officers of the telecom service providers in India can be seen on this link: http://www.trai.gov.in/serviceproviderslist.asp

This is a real time problem which most of us face. If we ask the caller that you should not call as this number is DND then the caller becomes abusive, which is a regular feature. Thanks for informative post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nadeem, its very good information. But the question remain there who will control TRAI. Its ineffectiveness of TRAI thats why policies are not implemented.
