Nizam of Hyderabad gave his wealth for India, Yogi distorts history!

It was in 1965 when the then PM of India requested the people to help the nation in the time of distress. It was the Nizam of Hyderabad who gave 5 tons of gold to the government of India. Now, Yogi Adityanath says, “Nizam ran away from India”. This is the way these hardliners are distorting the history of India as well as its secular structure.

Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan was the VII Nizam of Hyderabad. He was one of the richest people of the world of his time. His entire wealth was 2% of America’s economy then. This was the reason that the Times magazine made their cover with his photograph in 1937.

Nizam of Hyderabad used a diamond as a paperweight which was worth of 5 crore pounds, one can imagine regarding his wealth with this. This might make the readers understand that he would have been spendthrift, but this is not true. He used only one blanket his entire life, saying that there are many who do not have even one.

Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan gave a donation of Rs. 1 lakh to Banaras Hindu University during the need of money by the university.

The economic situation of the country was not very well as India was just in its teens in 1965. It had just won the war with Pakistan in that year. China started infiltration and India was being forced for another war. The then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri formed the National Security Fund and requested the people of India to donate as the armed forces required ammunition for the war with China. India had just been independent and this request by the PM raised patriotism amongst the masses. It was not only money which people donated. Many donated clothes and even blood for Mother India.

It was at this time that Mir Osma Ali called on the PM to visit Hyderabad and donated 5 tons of gold to the nation which was worth Rs. 1,500 crores at that time. The emotional end to this episode was that when Nizam Mir Osma Ali was not well, PM Shastri called upon him. During the conversation, Nizam said to PM that if he had emptied the chests from gold would he kindly return the same to him as those were the memories of his ancestors. At this Lal Bahadur Shastri laughed and sent the empty chests back to Nizam of Hyderabad in the traditional way.

Today, when Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is in power they are distorting the history of India. Yesterday (December 2, 2018), during the election rally in Telangana Yogi Adityanath said that Nizam of Hyderabad ran from India. This is the distortion of the history of India. He happens to be at a respectable post of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; therefore, he should not make hate speeches to woo the voters.

Whether the government of India is propagating such speech or no action is taken against the people who are speaking lies regarding the history of our Mother Land-India…
