The two
members appointed as interlocutors by the Supreme Court on February 17, have
arrived at Shaheen Bagh but have refused to talk to the people at the protest
site in front of media...
Two
members of the negotiating panel appointed by the Supreme Court for mediation,
Sanjay Hegde and Sadhana Ramachandran have arrived Shaheen Bagh.
Both
negotiators are trying to find a solution by talking to the protesting women in
Shaheen Bagh.
Senior
Supreme Court advocate Sanjay Hegde and arbitration expert Sadhana
Ramachandran, who were on the dais, appealed to the media to leave the venue
before starting the dialogue and said that they want to talk to the protesters
like two citizens. Citizenship is not a secret and therefore they can talk in front of media.
However
both the negotiators have said that 'they will tell the media later the essence
of the entire conversation'.
He
has said that in the presence of the media, there can be no open talk. However,
some people present in the protesting crowd said that they have no problem even
with the media staying there.
Earlier,
Sanjay Hegde and Sadhana Ramachandran read the court's decision to the people
present at the protest venue. He told that in what capacity he has reached the
Shaheen Bagh.
He
also told the protesters that 'former IAS and chairman of the country's first
Minorities Commission Wajahat Habibullah is willing to debate in the Supreme
Court on behalf of the protesters of Shaheen Bagh and they want to raise the
voice of people'.
He
told that Wajahat Habibullah is also going to reach Shaheen Bagh in some time.
Both
the interlocutors made it clear that 'they have not reached Shaheen Bagh to
make any decision in this matter, but are trying to normalize things through
dialogue'.
In
the Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi, people have been protesting against the Citizenship Amendment
Act (CAA)and NRC since January 16, 2020 which has peacefully completed more than 60
days. Due
to this demonstration, a road is currently closed and people passing through it
are having trouble in movement.
In
view of this, Sadhana Ramachandran told the people present at the protest venue
that 'Just as you people have the right to perform, in the same way other
people here also have the right to go to and from their work. Therefore, we
have to think that we should not sidestep anyone's rights for our rights'.
