The masterstroke of CAA!

What happened in JNU, AMU, Jamia and Gargi College of DU is a strategy much similar to the Gujarat of 2002!

Since the coming of BJP to power in 2014, the incidents are provocative. It all started with the lynching of Akhlaq in Noida. The right-wing organisations tried to enter the village where Akhlaq resided. The then Police Officer Subodh Kant took an initiative and stood firm to stop them from entering. For which he had to pay the price and was killed by a mob in 2018.

Shaheen Bagh Protest
Peaceful protest at Shaheen Bagh, Delhi

Lynching became a fashion. Muslims were targeted leading to deaths of many. The accused were arrested--not in all cases. The ones who were arrested were granted bail, and the ruling party leaders used to garland them on their return from jail. Dalits (a segment of lower caste) were manhandled at many places across the nation in a barbaric manner. No one came to their rescue.

When the planned strategy did not work to ignite the communal riots, Friday mass prayers were targeted. Small groups of 20 to 50 goons raising slogans of Jai Shri RamBharat Mata ki Jai and Vande Matram would disturb the Friday prayers a gathering of a much bigger number, but no spark ignited.

Stone pelting incidents increased in Jammu and Kashmir. On Social Media Kashmiris were targeted as Anti-National. The armed forces used pallets guns to suppress the agitations in Jammu and Kashmir resulting mass number of youngsters losing eyesight. The spark did not ignite.

Gang rape of 8-year-old Asifa in Kathua could not fulfil the motive of retaliation. Asifa a Muslim girl was raped in premises of a Temple and killed. The right-wing activists raised Tricolor to protect the rapists. Mass rallies were held but a female lawyer Deepika Singh Rajawat came to her rescue and the whole plan to ignite the communal hatred was defeated.

The people who raised their voices against the incidents of hate towards a particular minority community were attacked and pronounced as Anti-National. The PM tagged them as disturbing groups terming them Urban Naxal. The spark did not ignite!

Attack in Pathankot, surgical strikes and Balakot also could not help in communal unrest in the nation. CRPF convoy attack killed a number of soldiers. But the spark did not ignite.

Ram Temple issue was again initiated. Supreme Court gave it the verdict. Which was planned to ignite the communal hatred to the brim, but the spark did not ignite!

Strategy to induce communal violence failed every time. Then came the masterstroke of Citizen Amendment Bill which was passed by the Indian Parliament becoming the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA). CAA was delivered with the tag line that Muslims will be deprived citizenship whereas the Hindus, Buddhists, Christians etc will be welcomed to India as they were being attacked in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Here the crack in the wall appeared. National Register of Citizens (NRC) which was only to solve the problem of Assam where people were coming from neighbouring countries and to fetch the genuine citizens of India were initiated. In Assam, during NRC 13 lacs Hindus and 6 lacs Muslims were put in detention centres. The unrest began. To be on the safer side it was said that NRC would be effective across the country propagating that Muslims don't belong to India and they would be put in detention camps. The right-wing on social media started to educate this phenomenon and the spark now ignited.

People mostly Muslims now came on roads to agitate against CAANRC and NPR. In solidarity student who felt that their future was gloomy, joined in. The spark now worked and the universities were attacked by goons. The goons protected by police started to vandalise the students giving serious injuries. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) received the first blow.

To the rescue of the students, the Muslim women started an agitation blocking the road at Shaheen Bagh on 15 December 2019. This agitation without an organiser gathered momentum and similar agitations across India started. Though Delhi remained calm, the Anti-CAA protests in Uttar Pradesh were the worst. The police entered the homes of Muslims and vandalized. Even females were not spared.

Student’s organisations were slowly gathering momentum. Jamia protest increased day by day. On 30 January the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Jamia protesters planned a peaceful march to Gandhi Samadhi. As the march started a young right-wing activist fired at the protesters and the march was disturbed. At Shaheen Bagh regular incident of attacks by right-wing activists took place. People from all religions joined in at Shaheen Bagh and this momentum was being talked about by the foreign media.

Considering losing the much-awaited spark the right-wing masterminds planned something. Gargi College a women college of Delhi University was enjoying their three-day festival when some Pro-CAA activists entered the college at 4 PM. The gate was opened forcefully they claimed the walls and then groping started. On the screams of the girls, the goons laughed. The physically abused girl reported this to the Principal nothing happened. This all happened when in front of the police force with all the gears to tackle any untoward incident.

Yesterday (10 Feb 2020), Jamia organised a march till Parliament House from Jamia University. The students started the march and were blocked by the police. What comes next is what might ignite the spark if not here then surely a Shaheen Bagh. The girls in Jamia march were physically manhandled. They were kicked in the private parts some getting serious injuries.

This is what this right-wing government has been waiting for. If the people can remember the treatment which the females received in Godhra riots of 2002 Gujarat, they would agree that this is much similar.

Shaheen Bagh agitators will be manhandled more barbaric. Ill-treatment of the females by Police and goons will ignite the flame. The BJP government was in Centre at time of Gujarat riots in 2002 when Godhra episode occurred.

Finally, the masterstroke to be used again!
