Modi has been
active on the various Social Media accounts to gain popularity since 2009. He
has been using this most effective medium in the most effective way which is
now becoming budding ground for most of the fake news and terrorising the
society on the whole.
It is said that
internet is the most effective medium in the present time wherein one can
gather knowledge, buy or sell, gain fame, etc. Internet has helped the world to
shrink into a big family and people are making friends across the physical
borders. Nationality, language (sometimes), age, sex, religious background, etc
are no more hindrances.
Most of the
companies are using this effective medium to promote and propagate their
products and are earning handsomely. Celebrities are multiplying their fans and
there is a race to increase the numbers.
India has still
to learn the effect of this medium which our PM Narendra Modi understood way
back about 10 years ago. He used this medium in the best possible way and this
enhanced his popularity making him the 14th PM of India. He has been active on
his personal twitter account @narendramodi.
In
Modi’s tenure number of twitter accounts has been created to bully or the
internet term troll the opponent. Most of these accounts have numbers in the
profile handle, images of Mother India, Indian tricolor, stalwarts of India,
etc but actually has nothing to do with nationalism in reality. Recently some
social media accounts in the name of Desh Bhakti (Nationalism) have been
germinating with ‘India in (with the country/city name)’ for the people living
outside of India; most of these new accounts erupted after 2014. The accounts
are multiplying on daily basis.
These
new accounts are linked to the new fake accounts which are erupting every day. One
can check this on the internet and read between the lines to hear the extinct
volcano.
Actually
this powerful medium has now become the trend setter for many. Positivity of
social media is now becoming destructive with the fake news circulating over
it. The argument is that no one can ever control the fake news, is it!
