Beef, lynching, Nationalism and BJP

Since 2014 there has been an increase in the lynching cases throughout India. Many people not only Muslims but even the Hindus have been victims of these ghastly acts. Cow the sacred animals has become a problem for others. Who has given the authority to the Gau Rakshaks for carrying such actions over the Indians?

Cow happens to be the sacred animal according to the Hindu scriptures. It is said that cow is most noble of all the animals and therefore it is considered to be sacred. ‘Noble animals with the worst believers’, is the term which can be used for the Gau Rakshaks.

Gau means cow and Rakshak means protectors. Gau Rakshak is the term used for the people who protect the cow. A nice and meaningful term for this group of people, who protect this particular animal; actually only the animal! These Gau Rakshaks have been on the rampage since 2014, lynching more than 100s of humans in the name of protecting cows.

                                                                                                               

They committed gang rapes in the name of protecting the Holy Cow. Mob lynching has been carried on and the victims were forced to drink the concoction of cow dung, milk, curd and ghee. Houses of the victims were burnt. These self-proclaimed cow protectors acted as moral police, checking the bags and luggage of the travellers and if meat was to be found the victims had a tough time. A number of times according to media reports police was alongside these Gau Rakshaks.

It was all in the name of Hinduism. Since the coming of Modi to power, such incidents which were against the minorities were on the rise. Fewer cases have been reported. States which had BJP government even introduced Cow Cess. All said and done if the protection of cow was the prime objective of the BJP government then why these animals were to be seen on the road as stray animals?

In one incident a passerby was lynched on the pretext that he kicked a stray cow which was blocking the road. What an inhuman behaviour for the protection of the noble Holy cow!

Believe it or not these gau rakshaks had the upper hand and the victims were further victimised by the law enforcing institutions. It is the real protection of the cows or something else. The beef export increased from India since 2014 post BJP coming to power.
